Matsumoto launched the manga in July in 2020 on Shonen Jump+ site. The first print volume was shipped on December 4, 2020, and since then, two more printings were provided to the printer for demand. Sheuisha published her seventh book volume on July 4th.

Viz Media rated this novel. The company releases some books, both digitally and physically. Shueisha publishes the manga on MANGA Plus, under the title Monster 8 and describes the story.

A man whose work is far more entrant to his childhood dreams got wrapped up in an unexpected situation. By becoming a monster, he is trying to make a lifelong dream happen again!

In September 2021, the manga surpassed 4 million copies in circulation. The fastest thief to reach the milestone was Shonen Jump+ (as opposed to manga running in Shueishas print magazines) to reach this milestone.

The series was nominated for the 14th Manga Taisho Awards in January 2021, the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in February last year, and the Eisner Awards in May. It first place place in the final Manga category of the week-long Next Academy of Technology (Tsugi ni Kuru Manga Taisho) in August 2021.
