Now that MGM has lost the rights to the Tomb Raider franchise (and star Alicia Vikander), fans have lots of questions about the future of Lara Croft. Will another studio get to its place with the rights? Who would play Lara Croft next? And the biggest thing is, is it possible to make a movie that doesn’t smoke at all? Last Night in Soho director Edgar Wright pushed him forward with some criticism, implying that Aubrey Plaza (Parks and Recreation, Ingrid Goes West) play an epic archeologist. Wright, who worked on Plaza on Scott vs. the World, was inspired after seeing Plaza on a cover of Movie Maker magazine that showed striking resemblance to Croft.

Pla shared the story during a appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where she said that My friend Edgar Wright actually saw that and texted me and said: “Oh my god, the new Lara Croft?” Are you the new Tomb Raider? That’s the character of The Killer, And I was like Edgar, No. That is my film. And he really thought that I was cast as the new Tomb Raider.
Plaza added And then I looked up and they are actually casting this role just now and I was like, You went there. The new rook. Whatever. After hearing The Morning TV, I’m not familiar with my future, but I love it. When I wrote, and I realized that these photographs were pretty similar to that one. Emily is stealing her purse and Lara Croft has a gun holster, but they’re completely different. And its very weird, and completely accidental, but I’m going to accept it.

As Mr. Aladdin added, I like action films, and I don’t discriminate against big or small movies. I like many kinds of movies. I would like it if that turned out to be real, but who knows, I don’t have any idea. This is an iconic character. She’s the original badass.
Plaza is named Croft? We weren’t able to find it. Plaza joined the scene with the surly and sarcastic April Ludgate on Parks and Recreation, and is the star of the FXS Legion and is currently appearing at Ruse de Guerre. Am I thinking of Aubrey Plaza for our next unlikely action hero? We can’t see any reason why not.
