The newest animated series for Marvel Studios has hit Disney+. I am Groot is a short series that chronicles the story of baby Groots adventures. Because of what we saw from I Am Groot, it is certainly tailored to young Marvel fans (especially young children). Nevertheless, those who want to follow anything about Marvel are wondering whether it is part of the larger timeline in the MCU. So, who are I Groot canons in the MCU?
According to Marvel, I Am Groot is canon to the MCU, but James Gunn, who’s behind Guardians of the Galaxy, says it’s not necessarily canon to Guardians movies and it’s still part of the MCU but entirely canon to itself. I don’t need to watch for this, but I know how it is understood.
It’s definitely a very simple series with its premise but fans still wondered if it was actually a great way to live with. As long as Marvel Studios says it’s canon, then it’s canon. In this regard, let’s consider what we know about I’m Groot, or whether it’s canon, or where it belongs to the whole interdisciplinary group.
Is My Groot Canon In MyCU?
While it wasn’t one of the most widely marketed shows, I Am Groot is the newest to go hit Disney-Foot, as more Marvel shows start streaming in a time when the MCU now becomes bigger and more important with the upcoming films and shows in its slate. Of course I’m Groot isn’t necessarily the biggest series because of its children’s friendly personality, that’s perfect for the younger Marvel fans out there.
Essentially speaking, I am Groot is an animated show that focuses on Baby Groot, and his adventures during the time when hardly all of the members of the Guardians of the Galaxy looked at him. It fits on the theme of how kids do the most surprising thing when no one is there to be a policeman or if someone is not looking.
But while I’m Groot might be a child-friendly series and chronicles some of Baby Groot’s simple adventures, there are some people who don’t even see the series as simple, especially if they are hardcore purists when it comes to canon or non. Is it true that I am Groot canon?
Marvel Studios classified I Am Groot as a canon MCU series that is part of Phase 4. And while, Brad Winderbaum, the producer of the series, said that the series is canon. Some hardcore fans of Guardians of the Galaxy wanted to wait for what James Gunn told me over whether or not I am Groot is canon because he once tweeted that I am Groot episodes are animated shorts but not necessarily part of Guardians saga. In that regard, fans were confused about the status of I am Groot in the central story of the MCU.
Gunn even stated that he found it difficult to think of I Am Groot as part of the canon, even though Marvel Studios says it’s. I am Groot, no matter what happens, is a part of the MCU network. James Gunn finally said that I am Groot isn’t necessarily canon to the Guardians or the MCU, but the episodes are canon to themselves.
They are the Guardians of the Galaxy movies by the order & How many are there?
The actions of I am Groot happen in the entire MCU canon calendar and happen for the official canon. That means that those who want to watch all the things that canon to the MCU should watch I Am Groot because it’s only visible in Marvel Studios.
But whether or not I am Groot is ESSENTIAL to the MSCU canon, here is the way Gunns says of being canon in itself. It is because I am Groot. It isn’t necessary for anyone to monitor what happens in the MCU. In spite of the short appearance that happened in I Am Groot, the Guardians of the Galaxy did not appear. In fact, it covers no other event concerning the Ministry of Children or the Guardians.
So, that said, I’m Groot might be part of the MCU timeline, but there’s nothing that you have to watch to track what’s happening in the MCU. The show that we do is I Am Groot aimed at kids, since the events that happen in the show only concern Baby Groot and the adventures that he experienced if nobody was looking at.
How am I going with Groot at the Timeline for the U.S. Army?
The reason why James Gunn found it difficult to adapt I am Groot to the entire MCU timeline of Guardians of the Galaxy was that it wasn’t difficult to find out where the events were in. Because after the horror of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Baby Groot still had just been in a pot and didn’t live outside of it. Babies Groot and the rest of the gang were busy all the time on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. In the postcredit scene, Groot reached his teens.
Nevertheless, Brad Winderbaum said that most of the episodes of I Am Groot take place after the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. Two and the mid-credit scene, just before Groot turns into a teenager. There are also episodes of “I Am Groot” that take place before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
This fits right into Groot’s progression in terms of his growth because he was yet to become a teenager during the events that took place between Guardians 2 and its mid-credit scene. That character was still a really young child during the events just before Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
