Your keyboard is a quite clear kingdom. There are the council of elders, comprised of W, A, S, and, of course, the indispensable D. This is where the space character – which smacks every written conversation without a sway – is the entry key, that always happens when it comes to decisions. The escape key is ready, but there is no such thing as a failure.
No pause button, don’t you need them? To be honest, the majority of us can probably count a hand and then on the number of times it’s been used in the last 10 years. That’s why we tried to ask you, what is the meaning and purpose of the pause button? What’s up to now can be revealed: It’s not necessary in any way to release much information on Spotify or on the VLC Media Player, or, as far as I know, to do it.
The pause button is good enough for the moment.
The pause button is a relic there is no other way to put it. In the early days of MS-DOS, it was originally used to pause command line programs or, in combination with Ctrl key, to end them altogether.
The modern software barely ever uses this pause function. However, there are still a few potential applications today:
- I would like to be able to try more or less some games.
- There are still a few programming languages using the pause button.
- Other Windows shortcuts such as Open system info’s key + Pause’s key>.
If you don’t know where to get the pause button at first glance, look the top right on the keyboard. You should find what you’re looking for under the signature and scroll keys. You can use the English name Break, as well as the labeled word.
Even modern gaming keyboards do not do without the pause button, even though most of the users don’t need the keyboard anymore.
If you cannot find a pause button, don’t worry. While many notebooks, and compact keyboard layouts as well, such as the TKL (without numberpad) popular among gamers, often don’t have a dedicated button because of their design.
There is a keyboard shortcut that depends on the manufacturer, but always includes the key. Try the following variants:
- FN + Ctrl + P – Ctrl + D-L2 – Ctrl + P – Ctrl + Ctrl + Ctrl + – Ctrl + P – Ctrl + / E + Ctrl + Ctrl + Ctrl
- FN + Ctrl + B – B + Ctrl + – – B + Ctrl + – – – – – – – – = – = = – – – – – – B + – – – – – S&B + – – – – – – – – – – – – – – + – – –
- NH + Khr+P | L/T + Kl/Kl/Cl/Hr-t=B t&t=Brd + HE/Kl/Hr-t-T%+Ptl/SH+V + E-Kl/Mirmo?
- No utmost in the world + P unit.
- FN + B + B.
Pause time is often seen on the key. Take your eyes on it and it will help you find what you’re looking for, even if it is no longer possible to assume you have really missed it until now.
And what about the scroll button?
Now you’re a lot smarter about the stop button, but there’s another conspecific that you might have used a lot more. Our hardware expert Alex knows all his key’s personal resources and has also been on the topic of a series of issues.
Why is that scroll key good for?
Even if you did not read that article yet, we wrote a new article, in which we understand why five keys were removed.
Can you think of another question related to computer hardware, which could sound terribly simple, but who have always had an interest?
