Everybody knows that Jujutsu Kaisen is one of modern era’s most popular animanga titles and that this great series has one of the biggest fandoms in the otaku community. Jujutsu Kaisen blends Bleach and Tokyo Ghoul with an image of originality, but still attracts a lot of attention. The fans are eagerly anticipating this story. But, wait, what exactly does Jujutsu Kaisen represent? What does the title of the popular series really mean? If you have never known about that, we have the answer to it.
It is said that Japanese is not the name of Jujutsu Kaisen. The two kanji that compose the title literally means Curse Technique Round Fight, but the phrase is a whole other word, and the phrase is called Sorcery Fight. This really makes sense in the series, if it involves characters who use different spellcasting or magic skills to fight different beasts.
The rest of this article will be divided into two separate sections. Second is going to explain the meaning of the title, the whole etymology; third, will give you an overview of the plot of the series, which you will be able to use to check whether the title fits the plot and the atmosphere of the series. I have some milds.
What does Jujutsu Kaisen mean?
The word Jujutsu Kaisen is interestingly enough used in all languages, and it’s not directly translated, as does some manga and anime. This is why we must consider the original Japanese meaning so that it is understood fully. So, first of all, we must explain that the phrase is written as a slack in Japan. It has four specific kanji which mean the following:
Because of these four kanji, you can think of a story called Jujutsu Kaisen, with which jujutsu sorcerers use their fighting skills and techniques to fight a demon and his own Curses and demons. The term jujutsu meant god and magic, whereas kaisen is his name for fight. This means that this word is actually Sickness Fight, which really fits the lore perfectly. The Japanese title seems quite cooler, therefore it makes sense to not translate it. Strike like swarms.

The movie Jujutsu Kaisen starts in a world where Curses are created from human emotions. By so preserving the places occupied with a large concentration of these emotions, like the schools or the hospitals, these infrastructures have a relic, receptacle of a Curse, because only with an antiquated Curse, each can have a stronger Curse.
They are invisible to the eye, especially for people of different age, such as Jujutsu sorcerers. The job of a man with conviction is to kill the cries and protect the people against them, but no risk, since these creatures are more or less powerful. Yuji Itadori is an average student at high schools with the greatest power and an avid spiritist community member, and someday finds an S-rank relic in his school weather shelter.

In a confrontation against one of them, he says it’s better to swallow the relic and save his friends. By swallowing this relic, Sukuna has taken advantage of Yujis body, but this is just short-lived, because the latter surprisingly manages to get control over Sukuna.
Jujutsu Sorcerers chose to sentence Yuji to death, but when their first and only powers, the ruling Jujutsu Sorcerers came to mind, thou he gave to a Jujutsu Sorcerers a name for Sukuna, and he’ll be killed soon after his swallowing all the all those fingers. The only way to abolish Sukuna is by a word. From there begins an adventure that will lead Yuji to become a powerful Jujutsu sorcerer to rescue a innocent from an unignified death and to rid the Curses of this world for the sake of our human existence.
