The episode starts with David Letterman arriving in Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital city, with his staff to meet President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. During one of his stops, he greets a young woman at the train station, who says his thoughts and prayers will be shared with the best respect and affection of Zelenskyy.
The conversation between the two takes place at a subway station, as described as the safest spot in Ukraine, and the possibility of killing drones and shelling. During the conversation, Zelensky expressed his thoughts on the ongoing war, Russian propaganda, future outcomes and the highest part of dignity: the truth.
The moving trains and emergency sirens are all very interrupted. Which tells you a good context about Ukraine and its daily routine. At the same time even Zelenskyy talks about what people have come to accustomed to and how tragic it is.

There are many of the things that should be addressed in this special, but we also get a large dread in comedy. Letterman is taking precautions to use the universal power of humour in order to communicate with the unrelenting spirit of the Ukrainians. He performs a stand-up at one of the underground stations, too.
Humor carries the strength to restore perseverance in tough times and reminds us of the human emotional sensation of hope. A great moment that can stay with me for a long time is when Zelensky narrating a NATO-Russian Joke to Dave at the end of the special. This joke caught the laughter of the audience and created a surreal moment of hope.
