Since the announcement that Disney+ entered the Anime arena is sure waking up its sleepy competitors, Netflix and Sony (Crunchyroll). We’ll look into some of the latest announcements made with regards to Disney’s Asian Pacific market plans and what would that look like in the upcoming year. We look at every major anime that Disney has bought.
Disney has been purchasing exclusive rights to Bleach: A Thousand-Year Bloodwar and Tokyo Revengers, and have collaborated with Japanese artists on the latest anime Black Rock Shooter Downfall, Summer Time Rendering and Twisted Wonderland.
If you’re interested so far, do not go get in touch with us and hear the updates on Disney’s streaming platform.
Did Disney buy Demon Slayer?
In 2023, Disney plans to add many new anime to their platform repertoire. I think a lot of the anime if not all of them will be streaming on Hulu, as well. Since Disney is major owner, Hulu has a very good collection. Comcast is second-owner of Hulu and they agree to sell their company shares by 2024; if that happens, it’ll likely be fully owned by Disney.
Disney+ bought the license for Demon Slayer, for the second season. The music version is available now for streaming. With this new project in place, there’s a chance Disney could want to have exclusive rights to this series, too.
Has Disney bought Attack on Titan?
Similarly to Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan is available for streaming on Disney+ and Hulu all four seasons. And with that said, there is a bigger chance that Attack on Titan becomes a Disney exclusive, so you can only stream this on the Disney+ platform or Hulu if they decide to run off the shows like they have done.
The collaboration with Kodansha resulted in the addition of a lot of new opportunities for Disney to have exclusive rights. Kodansha is a leading Japanese publishing company and is entitled to the attack on Titan. If everything goes well, we might see the new season streaming only on Disney’s platform.
Did Disney buy the Bleach?
In response to that new project, Disney entered the war for the Bleach award. When seeing their competitors, Netflix and Sony who own Crunchyroll, Netflix having a huge success with licensing Demon Slayer and Blood of Zeus gave Disney a lot of ideas about their next move.
Eventually, they decided to take ownership of the Bleach series and now have the exclusive rights to the highly anticipated Bleach: a Thousand-year Bloodwar. Watch the complete series from the platform.
Did Disney buy a piece?
Interestingly enough, in 2018, there were rumors that Disney bought One Piece, but that faded after a few minutes. After seeing the situation today, it seems that Disney bought it but no further indication it’s going to be Disney’s plans.
As of now, One Piece is only streaming on Hulu and Disney+, but there are no indications that they’ll get an exclusivity deal. What we most probably have to do was to have expired the other streaming platforms license and now Disney is the only one that has shown that series.
Did Disney buy the Chainsaw Man?
Disney has apparently bought the popular new animated character Chainsaw Man. It’s listed on their platform, and you can watch it on Hulu too. However, it doesn’t mean Disney have exclusive rights, as it can now get directly on Crunchyroll and Amazon Prime.
The demand is high, so Disney will certainly have competitors in this arena. That series is popular these past months. We would rather see this show on multiple platforms now. This also raises the issue of censorship that everyone has been talking about. In spite of its many anime content, fans think Disney may censor a lot of the anime content. It provides some gore and partial partial nudity.
We can’t understand for sure what’ll happen in this project but Disney hasn’t announced that they’ll censor any anime content so far.
Did Disney buy the Tokyo Revengers?
Like I mentioned earlier, Disney is cooperating with the major Japanese publishing company, Kodansha. They also own Tokyo Revengers’ rights. This anime series isn’t as popular as Japan.
Since Disneys new project is focused on the Asia Pacific market, it is entirely obvious that its decision for the exclusive rights of Tokyo Revengers was the right one to make. Besides that, Disney currently has exclusive ownership of the second season of Tokyo Revengers, so you can watch it on the Disney+ platform and Hulu.
Does Disney buy Ballon Z?
Although there were rumors that Disney had to make its remake of the Dragon Ball series, this didn’t sound like a fact. Someone used a photo on Twitter of a small 3D artist who liked Goku in 3D format.
The false news prompted Disney to remake Dragon Ball Z.
This photo was used and eventually spread like wildfire in the internet, presenting it as it was a Disney project. This rumour likely came from Disney purchasing 21st Century Fox and partnering with them. While it was happening, some of Century Fox’s projects were being reviewed, and several were, according to the report.
Now, Century Fox didn’t have the right to distribute this series, but its adaptation rights are limited. If Disney wanted to remake the Dragon Ball Z series, they could possibly do that. However, it would most likely take to consult Toei Animation, which has the rights of the company now.
Did Disney buy My Hero Academie?
The odds are high that Disney can buy My Hero Akademia and maybe even movie adaptation rights. When the Disney CEO, Bob Iger even said in 2018, It’s a no-brainer, Popular, possessed superheroes and possessed a passion for oriental charm.
Disney bought the streaming rights now, and you can watch five seasons of this series with Disney+ and Hulu.
Did Disney buy Naruto?
Disney bought the right to the Naruto series in 2009, and they realised that the movie was in motion. The Disney movie, especially Naruto Shippuden, was rejected by Disney, but they would later realize that the movie isn’t as obnoxious as they thought it would be.
It looks like they didn’t do their research, and when they met Viz Media, the producers had stated in their contract they wouldn’t be doing that show for any reason. They would deliver the versions they dubbed but no more than that.
Eventually, Disney realized this was a far more violent show with crude humor. They deleted that episode from their program when they aired 96 episodes. It’s been quite a while since it was not the most recent release of news about Disney buying exclusive rights for Naruto, but it’s clear that it’s still still pretty popular. The Naruto series only has four seasons on offer.
Did Disney buy a trip to the Jojo’s Bizzare?
I am not the one who has heard about Disney and JoJos Bizzare. Anything could happen in the future, but for now they have four seasons available for streaming on Disney+ and Hulu.
It seems like Disneys competitor, but Warner Bros are more interested in buying the exclusive jewel for the Jojos Bizzare adventure series.
