Avatar director James Cameron revealed his scientific studies that proves two people couldn’t have survived on the floating door at the end of Titanic.
Many fans of the Cameron Titanic debated whether Jack must die or not. Several observers say there was enough room for Jack and Rose (Kate Winslet) on the floating door-turned makeshift raft, but Cameron himself is here to prove everyone wrong. Cameron said in his speech to the Toronto Sun that he had a scientific study done to stop this happening. We had the opportunity to give our ideas a wink.
We then carried out a thorough forensic analysis with an hypothermia expert who reproduced a raft from the film and turned it into a special program coming out in February. The specials February release coincides with the 4K restoration of Titanic scheduled for the Valentines Day weekend in 2023.
The answer is, they could’ve both survived with a range of methods. We took two stunt people who were the same body mass as Kate and Leo and we put sensors all over them and inside them and they put them in water and we tested their abilities to make sure they could’ve both survived. Only one could survive.

Still from Titanic.
(Jack) had to die, he added. It’s like Romeo and Juliet. This is a film about humanity and death. Love is measured with sacrifice. Maybe it’ll be 25 years before I can take care of that. Cameron made headlines in 2019 because he called stupid the endless debate about Jacks fate.
The filmmaker told the BBC that there was no debate. But if you really want to uncover all the dumbass arguments associated with that, then let me go back to the truth: could Romeo be smart and not take the poison? Could he decide not to bring his little dagger just in case Juliet might stab herself with this? Yes, entirely. The point is missing.
Last month, Cameron revealed that DiCaprio nearly won the role of Jack because he didn’t want to test the part for the part. DiCaprio started working to charm the studio executives, so Cameron set up a second meeting with the actor for the screen test with Kate Winslet.
Cameron told the GQ magazine that he didn’t know he was going to test. He thought that meeting Kate was another one. So I said, Okay, just go in the next room, and run some lines and Ill video it. And he said, You mean, Im reading? I said yes. He said that: “As it is, I cannot read.” I shook her hand and said, “Thanks for coming by.”
Cameron was ready to eat Dough when he came back to DiCaprio, but after saying it was over, “Caprio is a good thing.” If I don’t read, what part? Something like that? Cameron responded: “Oh, okay.” Come on. This is a huge film that will take two years of my life, and you’ll be gone doing five things while I do post-production.
And the wrong decision in casting is what I am making. So, you will read, or you will not get that part.”
