U.S. government office established to track reports of unidentified anomalous phenomena (formerly UFOs), sightings of possible alien activity more than double.
Pentagons All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) reports hundreds of UAPs since 2021. Department of Defense receives 144 so far from 2004-2021 to give his perspective.
So why the reports influx? Reporting of unexplained events could have lost much negative stigma as high-level officials begin to come out and admit own sightings. It could also be simple, and certainly also, that people know where to send these reports, the agency that is creating for such sightings is already established.

Either way, it is interesting to find that the increase in reports has made all military branches work together to create a more uniform way of reporting these sightings and to streamline the process.
[Wes] working with military departments and joint staff to normalize, integrate and expand UAP reporting beyond the aviators to all service members including mariners, submariners and our space Guardians, AARO director Sean Kirkpatrick said.
Important caveat to this new attention on the topic is that no officially confirmed evidence of alien lifeforms. AARO says they’re genuinely open to possible extraterrestrial life but largely concerned with safety concerns posed by strange items flying near military areas.
UAP surge in UAPs was partly driven by China, Russia or another potential adversary in May 2022. Deputy SVP Moultrie, Kirkpatrick says public safety in offices.
Department takes public interest in UAPs serious, says Moultrie. We fully commit to openness and accountability in America, as I sat to congressional leaders in May. We want to share as much detail as we can with the public.
