Japan 2022 top five Starbucks Frappuccinos in 2022

Who could get some of these for a holiday?

What was the best flavour in the year?

Starbucks Frappuccinos stood out for reporter K. Masami as we look back on the year it was. Masami says it has been her best to try every new Frappuccino release from the coffeehouse chain as she reflected upon 2022.

Some suddenly came to mind as her favourites out of many limited-edition Starbucks drinks from Jan – Dec. Which were they? Here’s a closer look at her five top picks, -in no particular order – and the reasons that made them so unforgettable.

Melon of Melon Frappuccino Melon

Masami saw a lot of fun drinking over at the last few months as a drink to try. Its a statement she still stands by to this day as the melon-flavoured drink, along with its melon-flavoured whipped cream topping, is a rare flavour you dont often get at Starbucks. Exciting summer, Masami has fingers croseed that might be able to try again one day.

Fruit Gyu New Frappuccino

Another unique release was this retro drink, which takes its flavour inspiration from fruit-flavoured milk thats known in Osaka. Non only did it look and taste like mixed juice, it also added a punny name, twisting the Japanese word for milk, gyunyu to describe the retro drink. TheFuwa Fuwa Mousse Coffee Gyu New, with a heartbeat twist, made a big difference.

Bananana Banana Frappuccino

Starbucks made several banana-flavoured Frappuccinos in the past, but Masami says they were most reliable by far. A standout hit was the fresh banana pulp produced by Cheese-Coated Banas sold at summer festival stalls, a story behind them – Masami remembers them so much that they’ve come back to the moment.

Purple Halloween Frappuccino

Masami fell head over heels for sweet potato beer, packed with sugar from root vegetable thats synonymous with autumn in Japan. Bright purple drink turned into one of the most memorable Halloween Frappuccinos of all time, though it was tasty.

Sakura Cassis Strawberry Shiratama Frappuccino

Japanese hanami flower-viewing season often pairs sakura with white chocolate or strawberry. Masami’s blend of sakura with cassis was completely left-field idea, which turns out to be fantastic, as well as conjuring up images of cherry blossoms at night with its sharp flavour and deep pink hues.
