Microsofts Xbox announces one-time Xbox Series X|S consoles owned by those in the Xbox Insiders program Overnight. This update automatically updates the console to the shutdown (energy saving) option, which they say will let the console cool out while the console is off, and won’t affect performance, gameplay or the console’s ability to receive overnight updates to system, games or apps. Talking about Xbox Power Options They say they can give up to 20x less power than Sleep Power.

Xbox team: Insiders that use the shutdown (energy saving) as power option, that their Xbox Series X/S consoles will also get an update that makes their console carbon aware.

The energy saving thing has been going on for the Xbox consoles for a decade, so we’ll save the carbon equivalent of one tree planted and grown. For every two Xbox consoles that switch to shutdown (energy saving), we’ll save the carbon equivalent of one tree for a decade. (This is based on average of Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles on shutdown (energy saving) for 20 hours per day for 1 year; actual energy savings varies by console and other factors using theEPA calculators).

Xbox users can now update their console with carbon update in near future. Xbox Insiders fans who want to adjust their settings to get the best energy saving option before the automatic update can go toSettings > General > Power options.

Xbox continues its efforts to achieve Microsoft’s 2030 carbon negative, water positive and zero waste target. Xbox is now redesigning its designs, builds, distributes, uses its products and looking into how to create opportunities for its global community of gamers to make decisions that can reduce environmental impacts while gaming.
